It is our great pleasure to inform you that the 29th international Symposium on Chromatography (the 29th ISC) will take place on 9 - 13 September 2012 in Toruń, Poland. For the first time the International Symposium of Chromatography Committee has made their decision to organize the event in a Central European country, in Poland. The theme of the the 29th ISC is Chromatography & Separation Science. Past, Today, Future. The theme is of particular importance to us as the technique was developed in Warsaw, Poland by M.S. Tswett and the fundamentals of which were found by W. Nernst who was born in Wąbrzeźno, former Prussia. This significant meeting will be thoroughly devoted to the role modern separation methods play in scientific development.
The co-organizers of the 29thISC are the European Society for Separation Science (EuSSS), Central European Group for Separation Sciences (CEGSS), and Nordic Separation Science Society (NoSSS)
The Organizers, together with the Scientific Committee, have planned the program elements to inform and inspire, and to provide opportunities for increased collaboration among those involved in the separation techniques. The elements include plenary lectures, section lectures, oral and poster presentations or workshops.
We hope you will take full advantage of the opportunities for scholarly exchange and discussion on the latest achievements in the field of chromatography. With support from companies, we hope to reach the organizational success, from both, the scientific and social points of view.
We would particularly like to encourage young scientists to attend the Symposium and present the results of their research.
About Toruń
The choice of Toruń is meaningful due to its central location in Europe and long cultural tradition continued from the Middle Ages, through two milestones of Polish history, namely Toruń Treaties of Peace (1411 and 1466) to the present.
Toruń is one of the oldest cities in Poland, spread along the Vistula river. In its Mediaeval Old Town you can find the building in which Nicolaus Copernicus was born.
In 1997, the gothic part of the city was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The Old Market is one of the Seven Wonders of Poland, and one of the 30 Most Beautiful Places in our country. Toruń is also one of the Polish cities most attractive for Business (2010), and one of the best cities to live in Poland (2009).
As the President of EuSSS, the Chairman of the Polish Chemical Society and Commission of Chromatographic Analysis (PAS) I would like to kindly invite you to visit our picturesque, gothic Toruń.
Prof. Dr. Bogusław Buszewski
Chairman of 29th ISC
